Covenant Relationships
- The Covenant of Affirmation - (Agape love)
- I will love you and affirm you no matter what you have said or done in your past.
- I love you as you are and for what Christ wants to make of you.
- The Covenant of Availability
- Anything I have -- time, energy, wisdom, myself, finances, are all at your disposal. I
give these to you and the covenant group in a unique way.
- The Covenant of Regularity
- I covenant to give a regular part of my time to this group when it decides to meet. I
consider that time to be of the highest priority on my schedule.
- The Covenant of Prayer
- I promise to pray for you, to uphold you, and to attempt to listen to the Holy Spirit
concerning your needs so that I can share them with you.
- The Covenant of Openness
- I will show myself to you, letting you know who I am as a person in feeling, history,
hopes and hurts; in other words, I will need you!
- The Covenant of Honesty
- I will be honest in my mirroring back to you what I sense and feel coming from you.
- The Covenant of Confidentiality
- What goes on in this group stays here. I will say nothing that may be traced back or
that could be injurious or embarrassing to my covenant partners.
- The Covenant of Accountability
- You have a right to expect growth from me so that I may give you the fullness of the
gifts which God has bestowed upon me and fulfill my God created designs. You have my
permission to ask me about the goals I set with God, my family and my world. I expect you
to lovingly not "let me off the hook."
- "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." (Proverbs 27:17, New
International Version) On the basis of this verse, I ask you to please share with me
areas in my life that do not reflect Jesus because I want to grow in personal holiness.
Accountability Groups
These groups are forming for the purpose of studying God's word with brothers in Christ
and becoming accountable to each other. Your life will be re-engineered week-by-week in
the time that you invest in a group. The goal is not to make you a Bible scholar, but to
help you learn to live with Jesus Christ as the center of your life, one day at a time.
The groups are designed to be small. It is a private safe place to meet and talk. When
we gather weekly to pray and apply God's Word, measurable changes will take place.
Eight Accountability Questions
- Have I been with a woman in the past week that could be viewed as compromising?
- Have all my financial dealings been filled with integrity?
- Have I viewed or read sexually explicit material?
- Have I achieved the goals I set in Bible study and prayer?
- Have I spent quantity and quality time with, anzd given priority to my family?
- Have I fulfilled the mandates of my calling (my vocation)?
- Do I have permission to ask your wife and children how your doing as a husband and a
father?
- Have I just lied to you?
So if this is the type of support and group that you would like to be accountable to,
give the church office a call and we will get you connected. (301) 473-4337.
